So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Recap

Well, another week and I sitll wish Kupono was gone. Check out all the updates on my twitter page at http://twitter.com/ParlezEntertain.
SYTYCD: Oscar & Vitolio, Jazz with M. Moor, Their getup was scary but the performance was on point. They did a good job.
SYTYCD: OK can they please stop with the damn inner gansta business. Hip hop is not all about gangsta this and gangsta that.
SYTYCD: Karla & Jonathan, hip hop with Dave Scott. Poor Jonathan is so bad. Karla is hot. But they are painful to watch as a couple.
SYTYCD: You know what time it is. Still trying to understand why Max is gone and Kapono still here.

The Proposal 2009 Sandra Bullock

When high-powered book editor Margaret faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew, who she's tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another (http://movies.yahoo.com/).
This is a romantic comedy, so expect the expected as far as plot points go and how the film turns out. I love romantic comedies so I was already off to a good start. I love Sandra Bullock as a serious actress and in a comedic role, so seeing her in a romantic comedy after so many years was a bonus. Over all, I thoroughly enjoyed The Proposal. There was a touch of Devil Wear’s Prada that was perfect for Sandra Bullock because it made me anticipate her softening up. I laughed throughout most of the film and found myself wanting more but in a good way. There were a few loose ends I would have like tied up, but I am betting they got left on the cutting room floor.

Sandra Bullock as Margaret Tate did a great job. She has always had really good comedic timing and pulls it of great in The Proposal. She also did a great job playing a bitch. Her character was somewhat complex and remained uncompromised towards the end. I like that love did not make her this new person. I hate when they do that. On a side note, the woman looks good. She could stand to gain about five pounds though.

Ryan Reynolds as Andrew Paxton was just right. Sometimes his characters seem just a touch much on the comedic relief side and this time it was perfect. The burden was not solely on him to bring levity. His character was extremely likable.

Mary Steenburgen as Grace Paxton- I do not really have anything out of the ordinary to say about her except that I like seeing her work. She brings a touch of genuineness to her characters that is not overbearing. She was a good fit for Andrew’s mother.

Craig T. Nelson as Joe Paxton was annoying, but he was supposed to be. I just remember him as Coach from that one sitcom with the football team. It was nice to see him in a major movie role.

Oscar Nunez as Ramone was a darn fool. Sometimes I wonder where they find these people. He was quite funny and entertaining (literally).

Betty White as Grandma Annie almost stole the show. Ever since I watched her in Lake Placid I fell in love with the little lady. I think if the film was not as well rounded, she definitely would have stole the spot light. She was cute and funny and lively.

A Price to Pay by Angela Winters is the continuing saga of the Chase family. Steven and Janet Chase are the patriarch and matriarch of a family conglomerate and they will allow nothing to stand in the way of the family.

Their son, Carter, is an attorney with his own firm but is still firmly entrenched in the family business. He is dating Julia, however, he is still in love with Avery, his daughter's mother, who happens to be married to someone else. Carter is bound and determined to get Avery back, no matter what it costs or who gets hurt. Michael Chase, the second son, is out of favor with his father, but he has a big deal working that just might get him back in his father's good graces. However, he must make sure that he does not allow the sick relationship he has with his wife, Kimberly, get in the way of business. Finally, Haley Chase, the only daughter and the never-do-well of the Chase clan, has gotten herself embroiled in a situation that her family's money might not be able to save her from. Will the Chases finally find the price is too high, even for them to pay?

I had not read the other books in the Chase saga, but, it did not stop me from understanding and enjoying the storyline. A Price to Pay is a wonderful, fast-paced novel filled with drama and romance and is highly recommended for reading in the lazy days of summer.

About.com has a New Home Page

How late am I on this? Obviously my searching has been limited. I like using about every now and then because it is more focused on the exact topical information that is needed. It is really a great site. However, I hated the two million and one pop up and advertisements. The home page was just a regular thing. I really did not pay much attention to it. However, I am loving the new look and how it allows you to select and brows topics and channels. I am a browser some times. The search result page is the same and the other expert pages are laid out the same, but a great improvement on the home page site.

I Admit a Focus Problem

I’m focused man. Okay, not really, not all the time. I have to admit that I have a focusing problem. What exactly does that mean? Hmmm, well, I can focus on a task at hand. I can focus on a detailed plan. I can focus on an issue. Unfortunately, I cannot really focus in general terms which I why I must have a plan or a list or something at all times. Plans, lists, to-do’s or whatever help keep me going in one direction. Without it, I would be scattered all over the place because there is just so much to be done. I get myself into all sorts of little projects or come up with new little things to occupy my time.

I am pretty sure that is why nursing school is kicking my butt right now. It literally sucks up most of my time, and I cannot really get into any of the little projects that I enjoy working on. My to-do list is going completely unchecked and it is making me crazy. Really, completing nursing school should be at the top of my list; but who want to wait a whole year to check something off?

With that said, I thought I would highlight some cool articles on staying focused. Now this was one of the first search results that came up and I can see why. The other items that came up, in my opinion, were to generalized and a little bit lah-lah-landish. This one is focused (lol), specific and targeted to different areas. By far, one of the most informative articles on line about staying focused.

Wrote a song about it. Like to hear it? Here it goes:

Cheney to Publish His Memoir

Cheney to Publish His Memoir
What I want to know is who the heck cares. The main issue with this is that now I will have to put up with his media blitz for the promotion of this book. It will be just the opportunity he needs to bash all things post Bush. It is such a waste of good air time and paper.

CBS reruns beat new ABC, NBC programs

CBS reruns beat new ABC, NBC programs
Really? Why is this even a headline? Who watched new programs during the summer? I would expect the new premiers to perform poorly. The only thing I care about this summer is So You Think You Can Dance.

Most people associate the summer months with reruns. I anticipate the fall because I expect all the networks to bust out the box with their new programming. It is like a feeding frenzy of television shows. It fits right in with the hectic nature of a new school year. It's expected. People are not really paying attention to anything new that comes out right now. If something does come out, it better be really special so that the word of mouth carries it through to the new "official" season.

It's not rocket science, is it?

Who is this Nikki Finke?

Who is this Nikki Finke?
First of all, I say that with much respect to this proffessional woman who has apparantely handled her business well. It is just the hater in me that is asking LOL. Since I am a little out of the loop on all the new celebrity infotainment sites popping up every other week, I really did not know who she was. Upon further inspection, she is a long time journalist who, apparently, worked her way into a nice payday. After so many years in the industry it seems well deserved. Congratulations.

The jist of it is that she created an infotainment website, grew her readership and three years later sold it for a nice sum. Check out her Wiki page to learn more about her past accomplishments.

Finke, the blog's owner and writer-editor, will get a seven-figure sum for the sale plus millions over the life of a five-year contract as well as a portion of the site's ad revenue, a source says.

Can Chris Brown Make a Rebound?

Can Chris Brown Make a Rebound?
Uhhh, yea. Hello? McFLy? Can Chris Brown still make money? Do fans still love him, even now? Yes and yes. Poor Janet Jackson has not been able to make a rebound after the whole "wardrobe malfunction" debacle but Chris Brown beats a woman down, and it will be no time before he is back on tour and his album is selling to the masses.

Now, do not misunderstand me, I think he has to watch his step. The boy is still young enough to get himself into all sorts of mess, which is going to make this straight and narrow pretty difficult. If he even blinks wrong, there will be a back lash. I am all for forgiveness if the apology is sincere and the effort to change is genuine and it does not happen again. I do hope that he takes this seriously and it serves as a wake up call.

God bless the boy and Rihanna (not in a together sense) because the scrutiny is on.

Can Chris Brown Make a Rebound?
People Magazine
Chris Brown won't go to jail for assaulting Rihanna. The question now is whether his plea-bargained penalty - community labor, probation, domestic violence classes - will reform his behavior and save his career.
